In 2000, Perley Beairsto and Les Falconer, two businessmen in the beautiful Annapolis Valley of Nova Scotia Canada, decided to venture into an innovative business together. This new business was founded on the fundamental principles of providing employment opportunities to adults whose access to the workforce is often limited and of employing human labour rather than expensive machinery.
Perley and Les wanted to move closer to sustainability rather than further from it by manufacturing products that are more environmentally friendly, and wanted to promote sustainable corporate practices which bring light to the future by using raw ingredients sourced as close to the earth as possible.
Initially, the product was a line of soy wax candles manufactured for a company "KISS MY FACE", under the corporate name of Burnt Out Solutions Inc. Soy wax candles deliver long burn times, clean and complete burns, good scent through, exceptional quality and value. Soy and Natural waxes are renewable resources, and do not contain harmful petrochemicals. Using soy wax, palm wax, beeswax, and other natural waxes and oils, Burnt Out Solutions Inc. developed superior natural wax blends.
Perley & Les realized that soaps are a great compliment to candles. They decided to make soaps the “old-fashioned way” in order to create high-quality, all-natural products for their customers.
As customers recognized the superior quality of the soaps they started asking for other body care products. This was the start of a natural evolution…..first came soy candles, then came soaps, then from soaps to lip balms, from lip balms to body balms, from body balms to salt scrubs, and then Sólas Naturals was born.
